Facing History and
Ourselves
Facing History engages teachers and students of diverse backgrounds in an
examination of racism, prejudice, and anti-Semitism, in order to promote
the development of a more humane and informed citizenry. Teachers are
introduced to the program through workshops and summer institutes, and
other resources are available for ongoing professional development.
ISM
Workshops
Independent School Management offers workshops ranging from one to several
days, as well as a summer institute and custom presentations.
Klingenstein Center
The Klingenstein Center for Independent School Education offers various
programs for experienced and beginning educators, including a two-week
summer institute for teachers in the beginning years of their careers.
The Klingenstein Center is part of the Department of Organization and
Leadership at Teachers College, Columbia University.
NAIS Workshops
The National Association of Independent Schools offers workshops throughout
the year for lay and professional leaders of independent schools. Workshops
include:
- Governance through Partnership;
- Financial Aid;
- Institute for New Heads; and
- Leadership through Partnership.
Schwartz Science Teachers' Seminar at Weizmann Institute
Science teachers are invited to the second Schwartz Seminar at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, July 23-31. Educators will be introduced to cutting-edge research by top scientists, learn innovative teaching strategies, collaborate with international colleagues, and receive continued professional support. Principals' Center at Harvard University
The Principals' Center is devoted to the personal and professional
development of school leaders. Professional development opportunities
include academic year programs, summer institutes, and a principal
certification program.
United States
Holocaust Memorial Museum
The USHMM offers several opportunities for professional development
in the area of Holocaust education. Workshops are offered throughout
the year, and a National Conference takes place during the summer. A
year-long program, the Mandel Teacher Fellowship Program, trains
secondary school educators to be leaders in Holocaust education in
their schools, communities, and professional organizations.
