Collateral Materials

A school must decide what type of "look" it wants for its campaign materials. Should it use the same graphic design used for all other school materials or would it benefit by having a distinct campaign look?

Case Statement/Menu of Giving Opportunities/Pledge Card

This document should be comprehensive, telling the complete story of a school's totality of needs. The text should be no longer than necessary, and have a well-designed graphic look. The menu of giving opportunities should amplify the Case Statement and should include restricted as well us unrestricted opportunities (include giving levels or categories). Read the PEJE publication on creating case statements for day schools.

Brochure

Sometimes a brochure is needed to highlight an important program or fundraising project. This brochure should be highly focused and coordinate with the Case Statement.

Solicitation Letters

Letters should be clear, concise, focused, and not exceed one page. The amount and purpose of the ask should be contained in the first paragraph. They may contain other materials such as a brochure, but must always contain a reply vehicle (pledge card) and return envelope.

Newsletters

A semi-annual printed newsletter and/or a web-version, published more frequently, are useful development tools. While the newsletter should carry broad content about all aspects of the school, a portion of it should be devoted to development matters, particularly the profiling of donors.

Annual Report

Though not typically considered "development" collateral material, it is a very useful publication. It contains all of the information a development professional typically needs to describe the school.
